Hebrews is a letter that encourages us to see the sufficiency of Christ. This is a letter that also exhorts us not to fall away from Christ. If we are not careful we might miss the context of the exhortation in Hebrews 5-6. We might doubt whether or not we really have Christ. There is certainly a call for self-examination, but there is also a rich conclusion we reach in this self-examination: Christ is sufficient.

There are times when it is easy for us as New Testament saints to see ourselves in a different place from the Old Testament saints. In other words their struggle was their struggle and we have a completely different sort of struggle. Is this a mindset that is consistent with Scripture? How are we exhorted in Hebrews as a people called to honor the Lord? What are we to learn from the Old Testament saints?
James does not conclude his letter like other apostles who conclude their letters with greetings, benedictions, or passing greetings along to churches from fellow saints. James tells us not to take oaths, anoint with oil, and exhorting us to bring back the wandering one. Is it really true that we are not to take an oath? Are we to anoint all the sick with oil? How do we bring someone back who has wandered from the truth? These are the questions that we seek to answer in our last sermon on James.
We are a bible believing church in the Belgrade, MT. We are a Reformed Protestant church who desire to build one another up in love as we sojourn under the sun.
