This is where you will find sermons and updates for our church. Our mission is to preach expository sermons focusing on the gospel of Christ. We are a church that is tied to the reformed tradition and seeks to submit to the scriptures so we walk in the Lord’s wisdom rather than our own.

Christ feeds his people as they come out to receive his teaching. This is literally accomplished when Christ feeds the 5000 people. Christ primarily feeds Israel . Christ clearly communicates through this feeding that we will be satisfied in the Lord. Why does the Lord perform this feeding a second time? Is Christ affirming that the first feeding was insufficient? Why feed two crowds?
The people have failed to love the Lord as they are called to love the Lord. They are a people who have not been faithful and they are contrasted to the Lord who is faithful. How faithful is the Lord? How does the Lord show His faithfulness?
Jacob is on his deathbed and now has the opportunity to prophetically speak about the future of his 12 sons. Will he abuse his prophetic gift and try to put his favored son ahead of the other sons? Or has this man really learned from this wrestling match that the wisdom of God is manifested through weakness? How does the Lord show the irony off the Messianic line by coming through a very unlikely son? Why is this son such an unlikely candidate to bring forth the messiah?
Balak has been paying Balaam to manipulate and to change the promises of the Lord. They have offered the Lord the highest and greatest offerings to win the favor of God. The Lord has responded to the sacrifices, but not in the way that Balak had hoped. The Lord has continued to restate His promises to this man. Now, in this fourth oracle something that changed. There are no sacrifices, but the Lord reminds these men, and us today that his battle plan is fixed. What is the significance of this oracle? What does this tell us about the Christmas story?
The Lord has made a promise to his people that he will bring them to glory. His people have messed up really bad, and so does the Lord really desire to establish His people? How do we know that the Lord can and will do this? How strong is the Lord? Is there a god, a prophet, or another power that can derail the Lord’s promises? Balaam and Balak think they can, but can they?
Many times when we think of peace we think of things in our lives going well for us right now. However, this peace is still working out despite Christians who are tragically being martyred and it was working out when saints were martyred. How can we find peace in all circumstances of life? How do we find peace when we are among the nations in a dispersion and living in terms similar to Jeremiah 29 rather than the book of Joshua? Where is our peace ultimately?
Micah 5:4 is a wonderful prophecy about the accomplishment of Christ’s work. There is no doubt that Micah is promising the ultimate victory of the Lord through humiliation. If victory is promised then how can this humiliation be a horrible thing? It would seem not that horrible because at the end of the story is the exaltation of Christ. So, if the Lord is exalted then what can be so bad? If this is just Micah presenting the gospel then how can the gospel be so difficult to embrace?
The season of Christmas concludes with New Years. New Year’s Day is a day of transition of moving from an old year to a new year. It is our tradition to make resolutions and hope that the new year is better and more blessed than last year. This is not necessarily a bad thing provided that we are doing this in the confidence of the grace of God, but what should be the ultimate hope for the new year? What should be our focus as we move from this year to the next year? What can Jacob teach us about a struggled life in the Lord as he prepares for the ultimate transition from this age to being with our Lord?
